What products should I list on Faire?

Add basic information
After you’ve created a new product listing, you’ll need to add the product’s details. The product name and product type must be entered in order to save the listing as a draft.
-
Product name: Add the name of the product, which also serves as the listing title.
- This field has a character limit of 60
-
Product type: The product type you select determines which marketplace category the product will be listed under.
- To view suggested product types, select the search bar in the Product type section and start typing keywords. Select the product type that best describes the product. Each product can only have one product type.
- Once selected, you will be able to view each of the categories and subcategories that your product will be mapped to.
- If the desired product type does not appear based on the keywords that you provide, select Browse available categories to manually choose from our full list of available product types.
- To learn more visit Product Types and Categories
- Customer: For apparel or pet products, choose if this product is intended for Adults - Women, Men, or Unisex, Kids, Babies or Pets - Cats & Dogs or just Dogs.
-
Description: Write the product specifications and important information describing the product.
- This field has a 1000 character limit, so keep descriptions clear and concise!
- To learn how to customize the translations of your product descriptions, visit Can I customize my product translations?
Add Images and videos
Upload images and videos to represent your product listing. It is recommended that you also add one image per product option, which will be shown when the retailer selects that option in the product listing. Images must be in .jpg or .png format. Recommended image size: 1050 x 1050 pixels.
Adding images
- The first image in your listing is always the product’s featured image. Any additional images can be of product details, variations, or packaging. For apparel products, highlight details from all angles, including fabric and fit.
- To rearrange the order in which the images appear in the listing, drag and drop the images into your desired order.
- To resize an image, select Edit images and toggle Fill images to tile on or off. If you have multiple images for your listing, you can choose to resize each image by selecting the image you’d like to adjust.
- To delete an image, select Edit images, choose the image you’d like to delete, and select the trash can icon.
Adding videos
- You may add up to 3 videos for each listing, with each video being no greater than 2 GB.
- To rearrange the order in which the videos appear in the listing, drag and drop the videos into your desired order.
- To delete a video, select Manage videos and select the video you’d like to delete, and select the trash can icon.
For more information about product and video recommendations and guidelines, visit Product photography guidelines and Can I add a video to my shop?
Add multiple options
If your product comes in multiple variations, like different sizes and colors, you can select the radial button next to the option This product has options. We encourage you to list your products with all of their product options rather than splitting the products into separate listings for each different option.
-
You can add up to three product options to include within each listing. You can add a custom option or choose from the following:
- Product language
- Color
- Fabric
- Material
- Size
- Theme
- Pattern
- Breed Size
- Lifestage
Available option values vary by product category. If an option is not available for a category, please include the details in your product description instead.
To list your product as an open pack or prepack, you must add a Size option.
To add color swatches to your product, you must have a Color option. All you need is a product image for each color. If your product has color options but you have not created swatches, we may automatically add them to your listings using the colors present in your product photos. These help to ensure that retailers are aware of any color options that you're offering.
- Once you have chosen your option, you can add your option values. For example, if you choose Size as your option, you can add Small, Medium, Large, as your option values.
-
After you save the product options, the product variations will populate, and you can fill out the following details for each variation:
- SKU
- GTIN
- Wholesale price
- Retailer price
- Inventory count
- Tariff code
- You have the option to set unique pricing per currency other than USD by toggling this option “on”. If you choose not to enter your own pricing for each currency, Faire will automatically update your international product pricing using the daily exchange rate. To learn more, view Currency specific pricing.
- Select Save & continue
Once a product option has been added, its name cannot be edited. To update or remove a product option name, you’ll need to delete the existing product option, and add a new one.
Add product details
Attributes and product details allow you to highlight key features of your products on Faire. Attributes include properties like the unique aesthetic or fit of an Apparel product, or the diet or shelf-life of a Food or Drink product. We also offer attributes for products in the Jewelry and Beauty & Wellness categories, with more coming soon.
You can add attributes and details under two main categories:
- General: Highlight relevant details like color, ingredients, or scent.
- Eco-friendly: Highlight eco-friendly materials, packaging, or production practices.
Examples of details you can highlight today include:
- Women’s Apparel: bohemian blouse, cocktail dress, plus size sweater
- Food & Beverage: gluten-free pasta, shelf-stable canned goods, grass-fed production
- Jewelry: gold vermeil ring, pearl earrings, zodiac necklace
- Beauty & Wellness: floral scent perfume, anti-aging lotion, matte finish foundation
- Eco-Friendly (All Categories): compostable packaging, upcycled materials, carbon neutral production
- Product Language (All Categories): book written in French, jam label with English text
For full details about attribute and details, visit Product attribute and details and Eco-Friendly product attribute and details.
Add product organization tags
Product organization tags allow you to organize products in your Faire products page based on a designated tags of your choosing. This gives you the ability to quickly identify a group of products within your product editor for quicker catalog management, merchandising and collection creation.
These tags are freehand and can be added in the 'product organization' section of the product editor page.
Once tags are added, you can filter using these tags on the products page.
Please note, these tags will not be surfaced to retailers and will not impact search results or marketplace visibility to retailers.
Add pricing and taxes
When listing products, you’ll enter the wholesale and retailer pricing for the listing, or the product options if the product has variations.
Wholesale price:
- Wholesale price must be between 10% and 80% of your retail price
- Wholesale prices must be the same prices listed on your other wholesale channels
- List prices exclusive of Tax, VAT and/or GST, as this is added automatically to applicable orders.
Retail price:
- Retailer price should reflect the Manufacturer’s Suggested Retailer Price (MSRP)
US Domestic orders are not charged sales tax. Retailers are responsible for collecting and remitting sales tax on products they sell in accordance with their state guidelines. You have the option to set unique pricing per currency. If you choose not to enter your own pricing for each currency, Faire will automatically update your international product pricing using the daily exchange rate. To learn more, view Currency specific pricing.
If you have an item that comes in different options and different price points (like sizes or materials), you can have different priced options within a single product listing. Individual variant pricing can be added under the Product options section.
We recommend reviewing Faire’s pricing policies, visit What is Faire’s pricing policy for US and Canada based brands? or What is Faire’s pricing policy for EU and UK based brands?
Selling method for products without size variations
If your product does not have any size variations, you’ll choose between two selling methods:
- By the item: Retailers purchase the product individually. You can set a minimum product quantity threshold that retailers must purchase to check out.
- By the case: Retailers purchase the product as a case with one or more items. You can set a case quantity to represent the total number of units for the product. You can also set a minimum order quantity for the threshold that retailers must purchase to check out.
For more information on minimum order quantities, please see What is a minimum order quantity?
Selling method for products with size variations
If your product comes in multiple sizes, you’ll choose from 4 selling methods:
- Open sizing: Retailers can choose which sizes they want to buy, as long as they reach the minimum order quantity for the style. For more information visit Open sizing
- Prepacks: Available for apparel brands. Retailers can buy multiple styles in a set size run. For more information, visit How to create a prepack
- By the case: Retailers can checkout once they’ve reached the minimum order quantity for each option. You can set a case quantity to represent the total number of units for each size. For more information, please see What is a minimum order quantity?
- By the item: Retailers can purchase the product individually. You can set a minimum quantity a retailer has to purchase each time for this product. For more information, please see What is a minimum order quantity?
Creating collections for bundles
The only permitted way to bundle products on Faire is through a collection. Our Collections feature allows brands to offer product bundles, mixes, or starter packs. Setting up a collection will allow you to list each product individually within a group. Retailers can order the entire collection, or choose specific products to order.
For more information about how to set up a collection visit Collections.
Add product weight and measurements
After selecting the selling method for the product, provide an accurate weight and measurements for each option within your listing. Measurements include length, width, and height.
Item measurements should include product size and weight without packaging. Packaged measurements should be used if you sell by the case, or if an item has different dimensions due to item packaging prior to being boxed and shipped (e:. heavily wrapped or folded).
If the item/package weights and measurements are the same across all of the product’s options, you can toggle this setting on to auto-fill the data for all of the variants in the listing. If you sell by the case but only enter an item measurement, Faire will multiply the weight by the number of items in your case to determine the weight of the case.
Add inventory details
If your product doesn't have any options, you can add a SKU, GTIN, on hand inventory, and tariff code in this section.
If your product does have options, you will add on hand inventory for each variant under the Product options section.
For more details about adding inventory and inventory best practices, visit Setting my product inventory levels.
Choose product settings
Enable additional settings for the product listing. This includes:
- Let retailers buy this product when it’s out of stock: If toggled “on”, this product will be able to be ordered even when inventory is “0”, or lower than the required minimum order quantity.
- Let retailers buy testers to display in their shops: If toggled “on”, retailers will see an option to add a tester to their order of this product at the price you list.
-
Let retailers customize this product: If toggled “on”, retailers will have the ability to customize their items. Once this has been selected, you will be prompted to add the following information:
- Instructions for Retailers: Let retailers know what kind of customization you allow, ex. “Input the words you would like to be printed on the shirt.”
- Retailer Input Limit: This is the character limit
- Min Order Qty: Minimum number of items you require to fulfill a custom order
- Make Customizable Info Required: Require retailers to fill out the customization input to purchase this product
- Additional Charge: Additional cost per unit for customization (optional)
By requiring customization you can no longer charge an additional fee to customize the product. We recommend pricing your product to include the cost of any required customizations.
-
Let retailers preorder this product: Retailers can purchase this product with a scheduled ship date in the future.
- If your product will be for preorder, toggle this option to “on”.
- Enter your Ship date or date range using the calendar fields.
- The Deadline to place an order field is optional. Using this requires retailers to submit an order by a certain day. By default, this date will be listed as the start ship date. Once this date has passed, the preorder listing will automatically deactivate. If you do not need to have all orders in by a certain date, you may leave this field blank and the listing will not be deactivated until the ship date, or first date in the date range has passed.
- Choose if you would like to Keep this product available for sale after the order by date / ship date.
For more information on setting up preorders, visit Preorders or Apparel preorders.
If you are concerned about protecting the visibility of your preorder items, you have the ability to sell preorders to qualified retailers only by toggling this option on in your Shop Settings. This will only allow retailers who have met our wholesale buying requirements, or are in your Faire customer list, to view your preorder items. To learn more about qualified retailers, visit How am I notified of new orders?
