A high-quality listing helps retailers find your products, understand what they're buying, and convert to an order faster. Use this checklist to review your listings against our best practices, in order of impact on conversion. You can review and update any listing from your Products page.
1. Have an accurate hero image
Your hero image is the first thing a retailer sees in search and browse, and it's the strongest driver of conversion. Remember, if a retailer can't tell what the product is at thumbnail size, it isn't doing its job. Here are some best practices to consider when adding your hero images:
- Crop the image with the product centered
- Zoom in so the product fills the tile
- Use high resolution (600x600 pixels or higher)
- Remove any text overlay, watermark, or logo
- Use a clean, light background. White backgrounds work best, so avoid dark or cluttered backgrounds
- Avoid collages or images with padded margins

2. Add multiple product images
Buyers want to see a product from every angle before they commit to an order. Listings with two or more images earn about twice the order volume of listings with a single image, and a packaging shot helps retailers picture the product on their shelves. We recommend following the guidelines listed below for best results:
- Use high resolution (600x600 pixels or higher)
- Show the product from multiple angles (front, back, side)
- Add an image per variant, plus swatches, for products with variations
- Include an image of the packaging
- Include a lifestyle or merchandising shot showing the product in use

3. Add a product video
A video gives retailers the closest thing to handling your product in person, and listings with a video see about a 15–20% lift in conversion. We recommend a short video showing the product from different angles.

4. Write a clear, specific product title
Your title is the headline of your listing and one of the strongest signals in Faire search. Every word should help a retailer find the product. Always consider the following tips when adding new products, or updating existing listings:
- Specify what the product is (ex: "Christmas Peppermint Soy Candle — 6 oz" is a better title than "Mint" for a candle company)
- Avoid using the SKU as the product name (ex: "Linen Maxi Summer Dress" instead of "SWE12NM")
- Use title case
- Avoid promotional phrases (ex: "clearance") or subjective claims (ex: "bestseller")
- Check for spelling or formatting errors
- Avoid special characters (ex: *, !, @)
5. Write a complete product description
Retailers often look for details that are hard to tell from images alone, and many copy your description directly into their own point-of-sale (POS) system, so a complete, accurate description does double duty. Cover the details that matter for wholesale: materials, dimensions, weight, where the product is made, ingredients (if applicable), and how the product is packaged. For the best results, follow these best practices when writing your product description:
- Write at least 50 characters, with 150–300 characters recommended
- Use sentence case
- Keep formatting clean: no stray HTML, extra whitespace, odd bullet icons, or missing punctuation
- Add space between paragraphs so it's easy to scan
- Use bulleted lists to clearly list product attributes and features
For example:
Our bestselling journal is perfect for writing, doodling, scrapbooking, and more. Thick, heavyweight paper means no ink bleedthrough, and a sturdy cover with an elastic strap keeps everything safe. Available in dotted, blank, and lined options and several colors to match any aesthetic.
Features:
- 6.5” x 9”
- 250 cream pages
- 150 gsm paper
- Lay-flat binding
- Ribbon bookmark
-
Interior back pocket
6. Complete your product details and attributes
Dimensions, weight, SKU (Stock Keeping Unit), GTIN (Global Trade Item Number), and category-specific attributes power our search and filters, and they're especially important for reaching upmarket retailers and unlocking high-volume orders. Larger retailers filter by these attributes, so gaps can keep your products out of searches you'd otherwise win, and we use your dimensions and weight to quote accurate shipping costs at checkout, which is a big driver of a retailer's purchase decision.
Always remember to:
- Complete your dimensions, weight, SKU, GTIN, and category-specific attributes
- Enter dimensions and weight as attributes, even if they're already in your description
- Add every attribute that applies to your product category (ex: fabric for apparel, materials for jewelry and home decor, ingredients for food and beverage)
- Assign a product type to every product. Products without a designated product type won't appear in your brand shop or in search results.
