Can I edit an order?
You can edit any order up until the order is fulfilled. However, once you add tracking, you’ll need to cancel the shipping label in order to re-enable the Edit Order option. . You can make the following edits to your order:
- Change the retailer’s shipping address, contact name, and phone number
- Shipping date
- Adjust item quantities
- Add or adjust promotions or credits, including free shipping
- Add and remove items
- Add or remove a tester
If you’re not ready to fulfill the order, use the Add notes for this order link located on the order fulfillment page to make a record of any pending tasks needed to complete it. These notes are not visible to the retailer.
Once you submit the edits you will return to the order fulfillment page where you will see the updated order details. The retailer will receive an email notification informing them of the changes and will be able to see the up-to-date order details in their Faire portal. You can then proceed to fulfilling the order once you’ve made the edits.
How do I edit the retailer’s shipping address?
- Go to your Orders page and select the order you want to edit.
- On the order fulfillment page, select Edit.
- Select the pen icon next to the Ship To section.
- You can edit the contact name, shipping address, or phone number in the populated fields.
- Select Update Order.
- Optionally, leave a note for the retailer about the changes made. Type in your note, and select Submit. We’ll notify the retailer of the edit and include your note.
You won’t be able to change the country on a retailer’s shipping address. If you need to change the retailer's shipping address to a different country, let us know and a support specialist can help.
How do I edit the ship date?
- Go to your Orders page and select the order you want to edit.
- On the order fulfillment page, select Edit.
- Select the pen icon next to the Ship Date section.
- Choose the new ship date from the populated calendar.
- Select Update Order.
- Optionally, leave a note for the retailer about the changes made. Type in your note, and select Submit. We’ll notify the retailer of the edit and include your note.
How do I update item quantities?
- Go to your Orders page and select the order you want to edit.
- On the order fulfillment page, select Edit.
- Update the quantity in the Qty section and select Update Order.
- Optionally, leave a note for the retailer about the changes made. Type in your note, and select Submit. We’ll notify the retailer of the edit and include your note.
How do I add a product?
- Go to your Orders page and select the order you want to edit.
- On the order fulfillment page, select Edit.
- Within the Item Details section, locate the search bar, enter the product name, or SKU.
- Select the item you’re looking to add from the populated list.
- Select Update Order.
- Optionally, leave a note for the retailer about the changes made. Type in your note, and select Submit. We’ll notify the retailer of the edit and include your note.
How do I add a preorder product?
You can’t have non-preorder products and preorder products in the same order due to different ship dates.
- Go to your Orders page and select the order you want to edit.
- On the order fulfillment page, select Edit.
- Within the Item Details section, locate the search bar, enter the preorder product name, or SKU.
- Select the preorder product you’re looking to add from the populated list.
- Select Update Order.
- Optionally, leave a note for the retailer about the changes made. Type in your note, and select Submit. We’ll notify the retailer of the edit and include your note.
How do I remove an item?
- Go to your Orders page and select the order you want to edit.
- On the order fulfillment page, select Edit.
- Select the trash can icon next to the item you want to remove.
- Select Update Order.
- Optionally, leave a note for the retailer about the changes made. Type in your note, and select Submit. We’ll notify the retailer of the edit and include your note.
How do I add or remove a tester?
The option to edit a tester will only appear for products with testers enabled.
- Go to your Orders page and select the order you want to edit.
- On the order fulfillment page, select Edit.
- Within the Item Details section, locate the Include a Tester option listed beneath the listed product.
- To add a tester, check the Include a tester box.
- To remove a tester, unselect the Include a tester box.
- Select Update Order.
- Optionally, leave a note for the retailer about the changes made. Type in your note, and select Submit. We’ll notify the retailer of the edit and include your note.
How do I add or remove a promotion or a credit?
- Go to your Orders page and select the order you want to edit.
- On the order fulfillment page, select Edit.
- Within the Shop Wide Promotion section, choose from the promotions you were running when the order was placed or input a Custom promotion for $ or % off.
- To apply free shipping, check the Free shipping box. For more information on who pays for shipping in these cases, please see How do free shipping promotions work?
- To remove a promotion, select the No Promotion option.
- Select Update Order.
- Optionally, leave a note for the retailer about the changes made. Type in your note, and select Submit. We’ll notify the retailer of the edit and include your note.
Can I edit an order after adding shipping information?
If you used either Ship on Your Own, or Ship with Faire, you can cancel the shipping label, and then you’ll see the Edit order button re-appear on the top right.
If the order has already advanced to fulfilled, and you’re not able to make the edits, here are some additional steps you can take to address common issues:
- Missing Items: If you short shipped an order, the retailer can report the missing items in their portal, once the order is delivered to receive an invoice adjustment. For more information, visit: What if a retailer reports my products missing or damaged?
- Incorrect Shipping costs: If you added the wrong shipping cost, please let us know and we'll connect you with a support specialist to help.
- Wrong tracking number: If you entered the wrong tracking details, you can inform the retailer of the correct tracking number through Faire Messenger.
- Adding a promotion: If you would like to offer a discount after the order has been shipped, you might consider providing the promotion on the customer’s next order.
- Wrong address: If you entered the wrong shipping address, please let us know and we’ll connect you with a support specialist to help.
- Excess product shipped: If you shipped more than the ordered quantity in error, connect with the retailer via Faire Messenger to determine best next steps. If they are willing to keep the items, you can create an invoice for them using the Invoicing tool.
Can I edit prices on an order?
No, prices cannot be edited on an order after it has been placed. Updating prices will not apply to existing orders, only future orders placed after the changes are made.
You can edit product prices in the Products page or using the Bulk upload tool. You can also submit a request to have the products updated for you by visiting, Submit a request to add or edit products.
- For unfulfilled orders, you may choose to cancel the order and update the prices utilizing one of the options outlined above. Once prices are updated, you can inform your retailer so they can place a new order with the correct pricing.
- For fulfilled orders, you won't be able to adjust the prices. If you have an order where prices on the order are incorrect, let us know and we’ll connect you with a support specialist.
Will Exclusivity or Restricted State settings change if I edit the shipping address?
No, editing an order’s shipping address will not affect the retailer’s Exclusivity agreement or Restricted State setting.
Do my edits sync to Shopify?
No, any changes you make to an order on Faire will not automatically sync with Shopify. Please make sure to edit the order manually in Shopify to avoid errors with fulfillment.
Can I undo an edit?
No, there isn’t an option to undo an edit. If you need to revert changes you’ve made, you can edit the order again using the steps above to alter changes you had made previously.
Can I add a note to an order?
Yes, you can add notes to orders. Notes can be helpful for keeping internal context, like tracking special handling details, internal follow-ups, or reminders for your team.
To add notes to an order, navigate to the Notes section of any order and select the Add notes for this order button. You can add notes to orders in any status, and these are not visible to the retailer.
