At Faire, our mission is to empower brands and retailers to strengthen the unique character of local communities. We’re here to support your growth through whichever channels help you succeed. For many, that means using Faire and sales reps together.
We offer various solutions to help you grow on Faire alongside your sales reps so you can meet your customers where they are and ensure that your reps are fairly credited for the relationships they manage. Since we don’t charge commission on orders from retailer relationships established with Faire Direct - your suite of order taking tools that includes personalized Rep Links - you can still honor commission to your sales reps based on your agreements.
What is the best practice for honoring my reps while protecting my margins?
We recommend having an open conversation with your reps and sales agencies about selling on Faire, in order to develop a mutual understanding and agreement around how you will navigate selling and commission across both sales channels.
As a best practice, we recommend partnering with your reps to regularly upload their retailer list into your Brand Portal, assign the retailers to your rep, and invite them to Faire. This approach is the best way to proactively ensure that if any of these retailers place a first-time order with your brand on Faire, Faire will not take commission on that order, giving you the opportunity to pay your reps. After uploading the list, you can assign each retailer to the appropriate agency or rep to ensure that they will receive order confirmations and you will have accurate order tracking. Lastly, remember to email these contacts at least once every 3 months from your portal to maintain the Faire Direct relationship.
How does Faire Direct work with sales reps? What is a Rep Link?
Every brand on Faire gets a personalized Faire Direct link that retailers can use to order from their shop. When retailers order for the first time with you on Faire through your Faire Direct link, you will not pay commission on those orders or any of their subsequent orders, When working with sales reps, you can create a Sales Representative record within your brand portal, which creates a personalized Rep Link for your sales reps to use.
The Rep Link works similarly to your Faire Direct link, in that when a retailer uses the link to order for the first time with your brand on Faire, a Faire Direct relationship will be established with no commission. Additionally, the Rep Link can be used to take orders from existing retailers on Faire and assign the sales rep to that order, where the existing commission rate will apply.
The Sales Representative record will be assigned to any order placed through a Rep Link, and the sales rep will be CC’d on the email confirmation of these orders.
Faire can work seamlessly alongside your sales team. We don’t charge commission on orders taken through Faire Direct channels, so you can still honor commission to your rep if an account in their territory chooses to order through Faire. For more information, visit What is Faire Direct?
How do I create a Rep Link?
In addition to your brand’s Faire Direct link, you can also create a unique Rep Link per sales agency or individual sales rep. We recommend creating these records at the agency level, to simplify management over the longer term.
These links function like standard Faire Direct links for establishing Faire Direct relationships, while also assigning the sales rep to any order driven through the Rep Links. If you want to assign the sales rep to all future orders from this retailer, manually assign the sales rep to the Customer.
To create a Rep Link:
- Navigate to the Sales Representative tab on the Teams page.
- Select Add sales rep and enter the agency or sales rep’s name and email address.
- This will generate a unique Rep Link that you can share with the agency or sales rep. Please note that a link will also be generated if you add new sales reps through the Customers tab.
How do I assign a sales rep to a retailer?
You can assign sales reps to individual customer profiles individually or in bulk.
To assign a sales rep to an individual customer:
- Go to your Customers page in the Faire portal.
- Open the customer profile you want to update.
- Navigate to the customer management section on the right side of the page.
- Use the Sales Representative field to add a rep to their customer profile.
To assign sales reps to customer profiles in bulk:
- Go to your Customers page in your Faire portal.
- Use the checkboxes to select the customers you want to update.
- Select Assign rep from the options at the top of the customers table.
- In the Bulk assign sales representatives modal, select Download CSV.
- Add the corresponding sales rep’s name and email address to each customer row. You can only add one sales rep per row but you can attribute multiple sales reps within the CSV. Please note that deleting a sales rep’s information from a row will remove that rep from the retailer’s profile when you upload the CSV.
- Attach the updated CSV in the same modal and click Upload.
Please note that assigning a rep to a retailer will only attribute orders placed after the rep is added to the account. If you'd like to watch a quick demo, please see the video walkthrough How to use sales reps tools on Faire.

Can I attribute retailers to a sales rep based on their territory?
You can manually assign sales reps to retailers based on their territory by individually assigning them to customer profiles, or in bulk based on the steps outlined above. At this time, there is no automated way to assign sales reps based on their territory.
Will orders with a sales rep assigned have commission?
It depends. If a retailer has an existing Faire Direct relationship with you, or if a Faire Direct relationship is established because the order through the Rep Link is the first with you on Faire, you will not pay commission on the orders. However, if an existing Marketplace relationship exists, the existing commission rate will apply.
Please note that assigning a sales rep to the retailerwill not automatically update the relationship to Faire Direct, you’ll still need to submit a commission change request using the Request commission change button on the order in your portal. The documentation you submit in your request must abide by the eligible documentation as listed in our Faire Direct policy.
Can an order be assigned to a different sales rep if one is already assigned to that retailer?
Yes. Sales rep attribution can occur at two levels:
- Customer-level attribution
- Brand order-level attribution
If a rep is tagged at the customer level all future orders will be assigned to that sales rep. This remains true unless the assignment is changed by you, or overridden by an order from a different Rep Link.
If a retailer uses the Rep Link of another sales rep, any orders placed within 30 days of clicking that link will attribute those orders to that new sales rep.
- This applies to all orders placed during that 30-day window (not just the first order).
- The customer-level sales rep does not change.
Can I assign an order to my sales rep after it is placed?
No, only future orders can be attributed to a sales rep. Please visit, How to attribute your sales reps to retailers on Faire for more information.
How can I review my sales rep information?
You can review your Sales Representative records by navigating to the Team section of your account settings. Here you will find a list of reps or agencies with their personalized Rep Link, name, and their email address. Please note that only team members with admin permissions can modify sales rep information, and assign sales reps to your retailers.
What happens if a retailer forgets to use a sales rep link?
If you notice an order comes through that qualifies for no commission through our Faire Direct policy, you can submit a commission change request using the Request commission change button on the order in your portal. This will most commonly apply to retailers that previously bought from your brand off Faire, or retailers that were sent your Faire Direct link with qualifying evidence. In your request, please make note of the sales rep to be linked to the order. The documentation you submit in your request must abide by the eligible documentation as listed in our Faire Direct policy.
Once submitted, our team will review your request and provide you with an update via email within 2 business days.
This does not apply to retailers that have already discovered your brand through our sales and marketing efforts and ordered through Faire before communicating with one of your sales representatives.
To ensure sales reps are fairly credited for orders they drive on Faire whether or not the retailer places the order through the rep’s Faire Direct link, we recommend attributing the sales rep to the customer’s profile on Faire. Any time the customer orders on Faire, the rep will be credited.

How do I block locations where my sales representatives are located?
To ensure that your retailers in those territories can still take advantage of Faire’s benefits, we recommend setting up reps within that territory with a Rep Link, in addition to uploading their customer list and assigning to them within Faire.. Additionally, sales reps can be assigned to retailers in Faire using our attribution tools outlined in, How to attribute sales reps to retailers on Faire. Utilizing these tools will help you keep track of which Faire orders should be attributed to your sales reps so that you can compensate them accordingly.
