When using Faire’s Campaigns tool to send marketing emails, we recommend using the filters in your Customers tab to create customer segments. Segmenting your customer base lets you send targeted, relevant marketing campaigns that are more likely to convert into ordering customers.
What is a customer segment?
A customer segment is a group of retailers that share specific characteristics, such as behavior, store type, or past purchase history. You can use filters to build your own custom segments, or use pre-populated ones like Abandoned cart, Last ordered 60+ days ago, and Faire Direct offer eligibility on Faire.
How do I use filters to create custom segments?
To view the list of existing filters available to you:
- Go to your Customers tab and select Filter.
- Select the dropdown arrow for the category and choose the checkbox for the filter(s) you’d like to apply. You can apply multiple filters simultaneously to create a specific segment of customers.
- Choose to Apply filter to view the list, or Save segment to use the segment for campaigns.
How do I create a new customer segment?
- Go to your Customers tab and select Filter.

Select from the dropdown categories of filters for the group of customers you’re looking to segment:
- Abandoned cart
- Order history
- Campaign activity
- Custom tags
- Store details
- Contact info
- Relationship details
- Faire Direct referral offer
- Free shipping
- Exclusivity
- Review status

Select the checkbox next to the filter values. You’ll have two options to choose from:
- Apply filter: Use this to view the list of customers that match your selected filters.
- Save segment: Use this if you want to save the filtered list for future use in campaigns.
- If you select Save segment choose the Name segment option to enter a name for it so you can use it in the future.
- You can also create a segment directly from the Segments drop-down at the bottom of the list by choosing + New segment.
Where can I find my customer segments?
You can view segments added by Faire, and segments that you’ve created and saved, within the drop-down list at the top of your Customers page.
You can also rearrange your segments list by clicking on the drag indicator icon to the left of the selected segment within the drop-down list, and dragging it into the order you’d like.
How do I edit a segment?
To edit a segment:
- Select the Customers tab and choose the Segment from the drop-down list.
- Select Filters to open the filters panel. Choose additional filters or remove currently applied filters.
- Select Apply filter and choose Save as segment at the top of the page.
- Select Update existing segment to save the segment.
How do I rename, duplicate or delete a segment?
- Select the Customers tab and choose the Segment from the drop-down list.
- Select the gear icon to populate the drop-down menu.

You’ll have the following options to choose from:
- Rename segment
- Duplicate segment
- Delete segment
- Fill in the prompts based on your selection.
Can I edit a segment after I’ve sent a campaign?
No, once a campaign has been activated or completed, segments can’t be edited. To update your audience, you can create a new segment and use it in a new campaign.
How do I send an email campaign to my customer segment?
There are two ways to send a targeted email marketing campaign to a specific segment of customers:

Which customer segments should I use to improve my campaign performance?
You can improve your click-through rate and conversion rate by creating and engaging with curated audiences, with the help of the various filters and segments within the Customers tab.
You’ll find customer segments are already created for categories such as Not signed up, and Has items in cart.
