How to build high quality product listings on Faire

In this guide

Why build high quality product listings?

We notice high-quality product listings on Faire drive a 10-25% increase in conversion!

We’ve analyzed what makes a high-quality listing on Faire, and have identified two main factors: optimal image and text quality.

High-quality listings reflect well on your brand and ensure that retailers have all the information they need to make a confident purchase. Meeting or exceeding the image and text guidelines below will increase your chances of being discovered by retailers, improve your brand’s credibility, and ultimately boost sales.

How can I ensure my product images meet high-quality listing standards?

To meet high-quality listing standards, we recommend ensuring the images on your listings meet the following criteria:

  1. Number of images per product: 3+ images
  2. Resolution: 2000 x 2000 pixels
  3. Image content: make sure your images include:
    1. a main product shot
    2. a lifestyle image
    3. a close-up of product details
  4. Overlays: ensure your images don’t have any watermarks or text overlay
  5. Composition: Clearly display the product on a white or light background
  6. Crop: Square crop for non-apparel brands, rectangular crop for apparel brands.
  7. Ensure you pay special attention to your featured image.

How can I optimize my featured image to meet high-quality listing standards?

In addition to the steps provided to ensure your product images meet high-quality listing standards, we recommend focusing on your featured image – The featured image is the main product image retailers see while browsing. Additional images can be viewed once they click on a product.

Optimize your featured image by:

  1. Highlighting your product clearly: Ensure the image showcases your product in a visually appealing way, without distractions.
  2. Avoiding text or logos: Do not overlay text, watermarks, or logos onto your featured image.
  3. Using a clean, Full Image: Avoid using collages or images with padded margins. Instead, present a clean, focused image that clearly displays your product.
  4. Optimizing for Professional Presentation: Ensure your image is well-lit, high-resolution, and captures the product in a way that is true to its appearance.

What if my product images can’t meet high-quality standards?

If you’re unable to meet high-quality image standards, you need to ensure your product images on Faire meet our minimum standards:

  1. Number of images per product: At least 1 image
  2. Resolution: 500 x 500 pixels
  3. Content: Main product shot
  4. Overlays: No watermarks
  5. Composition: Clearly display the product

How can I ensure my product text fields meet high-quality listing standards?

To meet high-quality listing standards, we recommend ensuring the text on your listings meets the following criteria:

  1. Product title character count: At least 35 characters (note that the maximum is 60)
  2. Product title content:
    1. Include relevant keywords, like the product type and key attributes
      1. Example: "Handcrafted Ceramic Mug - Blue Speckled Glaze"
    2. If you want to include a SKU, do so in the dedicated SKU field, instead of including in the product name.
    3. Avoid using promotional phrases like SALE, free shipping or subjective comments like customer favorite in the title.
  3. Product title structure: Clearly describe the product. No duplicated names amongst your catalog. Include:
    1. product type
    2. uniqueness
    3. relevant details
  4. Product description character count: At least 300 average characters per product description, or 250 for Paper & Novelty or Jewelry.
  5. Product description content: Include relevant details in a structured format, bullet points and lists are recommended.
    • Example:
      • Handmade ceramic mug
      • 12 oz capacity
      • Microwave and dishwasher safe
      • Blue speckled glaze finish

What if my product text fields can’t meet high-quality standards?

If you can’t meet high-quality text standards, ensure the product text fields for your Faire listings meet our minimum requirements:

  1. Product title character count: Minimum 10 characters
  2. Product title content:
    1. Avoid using SKUs or special characters. If you need to include a SKU, use the dedicated SKU field instead of adding it to the product title
    2. Avoid using promotional phrases like SALE, free shipping or subjective comments like “customer favorite” in the title.
  3. Product title structure: Avoid duplicated names amongst your catalog. Include:
    1. product type
    2. uniqueness
    3. relevant details
  4. Product description character count: Minimum 50 characters
  5. Product description content: Your description should provide additional information about your product, it must differ from the title, and must not consist solely of a SKU.
