Capturing a fairy tale ending, this romantic scene depicts a royal couple strolling through their blooming garden en route to their castle. Frank C. Papé's mastery shines through, seamlessly blending simplicity in subject matter with intricate, fantastical details. Frank Cheyne Papé (1878–1972), an English artist and illustrator, enjoyed a prolific 64-year career! His mastery of gouache, watercolor, and pen and ink adorned numerous books and magazines, and he was praised for his detail and subtle sense of humor. Renowned for diverse illustrations, from classic to modern works, he notably collaborated with James Branch Cabell, enhancing literary pieces like Jurgen: A Comedy of Justice (1919). Despite war and economic challenges, Papé's passion endured, leaving a timeless legacy. This product was custom-designed and printed at our location in Seattle.
