In 2019 Ryan started making sourdough bread. He and his wife Valerie started looking for a new and better butter dish, but they didn’t like the seemingly old fashioned designs they saw online and wanted something a bit more clean and stylish. Ryan also thought that butter dishes could have some design improvements like keeping butter mess from getting on the table, easily keeping the knife with the dish, and easier ways to scoop up butter. He put pen to paper and drew out some ideas while also cutting up other butter dishes into new shapes and glueing magnets on them. Better designs started to take shape. Having already developed one product, they decided to go for it and make the butter dish they themselves wanted. - “As Ryan stood in his Seattle kitchen buttering a warm slice of homemade sourdough, he frowned. He didn’t have anywhere to set his butter knife down without making a mess. And the butter on the dish lid had already left a greasy rectangle on the counter.
