Wynand van Niekerk is the sketch artist behind Downtown Sketcher, based in Halifax with a passion for the character and charm of city corners, the details in a storefront or a street that most people walk past without noticing. That fascination has taken him city by city across Canada, sketching in fine liners and alcohol and acrylic-based markers to bring each place to life in vivid colour. Every sketch works two ways: something a local recognizes instantly, and something a visitor takes home to remember a place they stood in.
