Roast began as a way to for two brothers to stay connected during the pandemic lockdown. Trapped in separate cities and tired of living life through screens, Nick and Doug began to reminisce about the way we used to gather before the internet. From shared memories of camping with their family and roasting marshmallows around the campfire, Roast was born with the goal of rekindling the in-person connections we could all use a little more of these days. The very first copy of Roast was printed in black and white on plain printer paper, family members were conscripted as unpaid labor to cut homemade cards by hand, and, after months of testing, Roast emerge as something resembling a game. It had been a fun pandemic project, but Nick and Doug had no idea how to turn a protype into a full fledged business and nearly called it quits before they'd even begun. If it hadn't been for the massive support from their family, friends. and local gaming community, Roast might not have become the game players know and love today. Three years and one successful Kickstarter campaign later, Roast is now in over 50 stores, 18 states, and 7 different countries across the world. Along the way, Nick and Doug have had so many wonderful adventures, from climbing to the top of Mt. Raineir to creating custom card art that became a permanenet tattoo for one of their biggest fans. But no matter how far the game travels, it's the moments that bring people together again that keeps the campfire burning. Read their story
