One of the original specialty coffee companies in the Midwest, The Great Lakes Coffee Roasting Company has been roasting, brewing, and serving premium coffees as a family-owned company for 30 years. Founded by a husband-and-wife team, the company was launched from their shared passion for exceptional coffee and an entrepreneurial dream. She was the daughter of an Italian immigrant who grew up sipping espresso on her family’s front porch on Detroit’s East Side. And he, an ambitious entrepreneur from the heart of Seattle, the birthplace of the coffee culture in America. Their worlds collided, merging Italian coffee culture with American innovation — and a deep love for coffee and each other. Over the years, this company which they humbly launched from their garage has challenged and shaped the local coffee landscape and has grown to become one of the Great Lakes Region’s preeminent artisan coffee roasters. From the early-stage introduction of espresso bar culture, to cutting edge ‘Third Wave’ café development, to forging new advances in the RTD Cold Brew Coffee category, Great Lakes Coffee continues to shape the landscape and challenge the limits of specialty coffee culture in the Great Lakes Region.
