If you are purchasing products on Faire for resale, retailers in the US are generally required to have a resale tax ID. This may also be referred to as a seller's permit, resale certificate, reseller ID, or sales tax license. You’ll be able to upload a copy to your Faire account. For more information on adding or updating your resale tax ID, visit How do I add my business tax information?
If you are purchasing products for business use (not for resale), a resale tax ID is not required. However, this means that you will be charged any applicable sales tax on your order.
Resale tax ID requirements may vary from state to state, so please be sure you have obtained the proper documents in order to do business in your state.
A resale tax ID is issued by your state and is different from an EIN. If your state issues you the same number, please be ready to provide us with a copy of your completed resale certificate to show that your business is permitted to resell wholesale purchases.

Do I need a resale tax ID for each state I ship to?
If you are purchasing for resale and have multiple shipping addresses in different states, each state that you ship to will require a resale tax ID.
