Senecio articulatus is also known as Candle Plant, Hot Dog Cactus, or Causage Plant. This rare succulent has tubular grayish green stems with dark green and purple markings below the petioles. Its leaves are usually divided into leaflets with green upper sides and purple undersides. During winter, Senecio articulatus blooms small white cup-shaped flowers borne in clusters at the end of a long stem of 15 to 25 cm (5–8 inch). Porous and well-drained potting mix. Replenish nutrients in the soil every now and then. Optimal pH is from 6.0 to 7.5. Partial shade. This plant is drought tolerant. Water thoroughly only when soil is dry to the touch, then let drain completely. Reduce watering to a minimum in the winter. You can propagate Senecio articulatus from seed or stem cuttings.
