Origin The Kodagu Rouge comes from the Western Ghats in Karnataka, southern India — one of the most species-rich rainforest areas in the world. This region is known for its exceptional biodiversity and its warm, humid climate, which creates ideal conditions for pepper of the highest quality. The pepper grows on an organic plantation that has been managed sustainably and certified organic for over 20 years. The farm is one of the rainiest locations in all of India and is nestled in a primeval forest where native trees such as Ficus religiosa, Shorea and Cinnamomum serve as natural supports for the pepper plants. Cardamom, coffee, vanilla and tropical fruits such as mango and pineapple also grow on the same farm — a natural diversity that significantly shapes the unique flavor profile of Kodagu Rouge. Read here how I found this farm. Aroma The red peppercorns develop a fresh, multilayered aroma with notes of lemon, lime, nutmeg and cardamom. This combination gives the pepper a pleasantly rounded spice — aromatically complex without being overpowering. Features * Single-origin & handpicked – each berry carefully selected by hand * Dried in the sun for a very long time – for an intense, concentrated aroma * Certified organic – from an organic farm run for over 20 years * Rainforest pepper – grown in one of India’s rainiest regions * Optimal storage – keep dark and dry in the supplied violet glass to preserve freshness and aroma
