The Echeveria tolucensis (Rose) is a stunning succulent with a silvery-blue rosette of tightly packed leaves. A thick, powdery coating called farina gives the plant a soft, pastel appearance and protects it from direct sunlight. This variety produces lots of offsets and can grow up to 5 inches wide, eventually blooming with tall stalks of pink and yellow bell-shaped flowers. Like all Echeverias, it needs bright sunlight to maintain its vibrant colors and compact shape. It is not frost-tolerant and should be brought indoors during cold weather. To prevent rot, plant it in a container with drainage holes using a well-draining cactus and succulent soil mix. Water deeply, then allow the soil to dry out completely before watering again.
