Description
This rare cactus, scientifically known as Echinocereus engelmannii and commonly called the Purple Hedgehog Cactus, or Rainbow Cactus is a compact desert species celebrated for its vivid seasonal blooms. Offered in a 4" growers pot from Plant Vault, this cactus forms short, clumping columns covered in dense golden spines. In spring, it bursts into large, vibrant magenta-purple flowers that can reach up to 3 inches across, creating a striking display against its textured, spiny stems. Native to the arid regions of the American Southwest and northern Mexico, it is a highly sought-after cactus for collectors who value its colorful flowers and tidy growth habit. Care Guide: Place in bright direct light. Water deeply but infrequently, allowing soil to fully dry between waterings. Use a fast-draining cactus soil mix. Fertilize with trace amounts of cactus fertilizer during active growth. This cactus thrives in warm conditions and requires excellent drainage to prevent root rot.
