Description: The Phoenix is a mythological bird that is said to live for hundreds of years until dying by bursting into frames only to be reborn from the ashes. This painting shows a Phoenix raising its wings over still burning tail feathers. This painting is part of a series of mythological creatures including a Phoenix, Dragon and Unicorn. The original painting was done in completely in watercolor. Original Artwork size 11” x 14” I print all Art Prints and Cards myself on a high quality photo printer in my own home studio. The patterns in my work are inspired by Art Nouveau motifs and world textile designs. For the Phoenix painting I also looked at patterns from Medieval tapestries and heraldry.
