BLANK INSIDE In a striking 1897 tobacco advertisement by Alphonse Mucha, a glamorous woman tells us, "Paris cigarettes are the best!" Although the advertisement is in Spanish, it originates from France. During that era, cigarettes were commonly associated with women, while cigars were considered the preferred choice among gentlemen. Alphonse Mucha (1860–1939) is celebrated for his distinctive style, characterized by intricate patterns, flowing lines, and ethereal female figures that defined the Art Nouveau movement. His work profoundly shaped the visual aesthetics of the late 19th and early 20th centuries, and today, he remains one of history’s most beloved and iconic artists!
