Description
This curated live-moss collection combines three cultivated moss mats of 3.5" x 3.5" selected for complementary growth forms, textural diversity, and broad terrarium compatibility. The set includes Hypnum imponens (Sheet Moss), Racomitrium canescens (Sun Moss), and Brachythecium thraustum (Emerald Feather Moss), each portion supplied fresh and ready for establishment in closed or open terrarium systems, paludariums, naturalistic vivaria, bonsai landscapes, or miniature ecological displays. Species Included Hypnum imponens — Sheet Moss A fast-spreading pleurocarpous moss forming continuous green mats. Known for high moisture tolerance, strong carpeting behavior, and adaptability to shaded terraria. It conforms well to substrate contours and provides ground-cover uniformity. Racomitrium canescens — Sun Moss A xerotolerant, cushion-forming moss naturally occurring on dry, exposed substrates. Its fine, upright filaments give a grey-green “sunlit” appearance. This species adds structural contrast and performs well in brighter locations where other mosses may be less tolerant. Brachythecium thraustum — Emerald Feather Moss A branching, feathery moss with glossy emerald coloration. It grows in loose, soft mats and offers vertical texture and depth. Suited for moderately moist, shaded to semi-shaded conditions, making it a transitional species between the other two. Key Features Three distinct morphologies enabling layered landscaping: mats (Hypnum), cushions (Racomitrium), and feathery branching (Brachythecium). Live, actively growing material capable of rehydration, establishment, and long-term development under proper conditions. Broad ecological tolerance across humidity and light regimes due to the complementary niches of the included species. Suitable for terrariums, vivaria, and naturalistic dioramas where biological authenticity and textural variation are desired. Promotes stable microhabitats, aiding humidity retention, microfaunal shelter, and natural substrate stabilization. Intended Use Ideal for hobbyists constructing botanical terrariums, bioactive reptile or amphibian enclosures, moss gardens, bonsai displays, or ecological education projects. The mixture is intended for users seeking diversity, natural realism, and living ground-layer dynamics rather than static decorative moss.

Tree Moss Island Terrarium Kit - Cushion Moss & Tree Moss
No longer active
Received my order today - first ordered mini tree on moss ball - Photo below that was on website - what I actually got - the photo next to it. In all fairness, it did say 'mini' but the trees are only about an inch and a half. and the ball in the first picture is only a small mound. not more than 2inches wide and 1.5 inches high.
