America’s introduction to these lovely trees began in 1885 when writer, photographer, and first female board member of the National Geographic Society, Eliza Scidmore, returned from a trip to Japan. She began a campaign to plant the trees along the waterfront of the Potomac River to beautify the Capital. Eventually, Japan became aware of the plan and in 1912 the mayor of Tokyo gifted over 3000 trees in a gesture of friendship to America. Modgy drew inspiration from the profusion of blooms that grace Cherry Blossom festivals in Washington D.C., Japan, and across the globe.

Always happy with our Modgy orders! I just wish you didn't use so much plastic in your packaging/shipping. It doesn't seem to serve any purpose, it's a pain to unwrap, and just wasteful/bad for the environment!
