5x7 greeting card printed on 100% post-consumer recycled card stock paper with recycled kraft envelope This winter, a dear friend and I were hiking in a high open meadow when we heard a familiar call – the unmistakable song of the Western Meadowlark. Neither of us had realized they would stay through winter, but as we approached a small seasonal stream, the call came again – magnified and multiplied! Sure enough, there was a small flock of Western Meadowlarks gathered in this drainage. What a treat to hear their bright songs on a cold winter day. This piece honors this encounter and includes the John James Audubon quote, “Never give up listening to the songs of birds.”
