Traditionally, all children in Africa make their own toys out of found materials: discarded cans, wire, old sandals, tires, etc. Following this long-standing tradition modern artists are creating art in all kinds of forms. This wire replica of a hand-powered tricycle used by crippled people was made by such an artist but it could have been a toy a child might have made for him or herself. The steering wheel is what the child would have used to manipulate the toy. Although this could have been a toy in Africa we consider it only to be a decorative object.
