Description
Mindful craft for busy adults — you don't buy luck, you make it. Put your phone down and spend one quiet, focused hour lacing real leather together by hand. The holes are already punched, so there's no piercing and no glue — you simply pass the waxed thread through, like lacing a shoe. No sewing experience needed, and what you make is a meaningful object to keep and display: a Japanese lucky charm (engimono) you made yourself. 【 Why leather 】 Unlike knitting or a puzzle, leather works every sense — the grain under your fingers, its quiet scent, the soft sound of the thread drawing through — and it ages, deepening in color and character the longer you keep it. As you lace the parts together, flat pieces take on volume and the owl's stable form emerges, shaped by traditional Japanese joinery. 【 What the owl brings 】 In Japan the owl is an engimono — its name, fukuro, also reads as "no hardship" (fu-kuro), a quiet symbol of protection and wisdom. It is said to bring: • "No hardship" — fukuro reads as fu-kuro, free of trouble • "Luck comes" — another reading, fuku-ro • Wisdom, learning, and clear insight • Night-sighted, it sees the road ahead A charm you make by hand carries the intention you put into it. 【 Choose your owl 】 One kit, two designs: choose your parts to make either an owl or a horned owl. 【 How it works 】 No sewing — the leather parts come pre-cut with the holes already punched. You just lace the waxed thread through, following the illustrated steps, the way you would lace a shoe. 【 Made in Kyoto 】 This is our natural, undyed leather: it starts pale and slowly deepens into a warm honey patina that becomes uniquely yours — designed, cut, and punched by hand in our own Kyoto workshop, from leather given a long second life. Finished, your owl — or horned owl — rests on a desk or bookshelf as a small sculptural object — a kept reminder, not a kit to throw away. 【 Kit details 】 • Skill level: Intermediate (no sewing — lacing through pre-punched holes) • Making time: approx. 60–90 minutes • Included: 11 pre-cut, pre-punched cowhide leather parts / waxed thread (enough for one piece) / blunt-tip needles / printed step-by-step instructions (English & Japanese) • You'll need: scissors 【 Finished size & weight 】 • Size: approx. 15 (H) × 10 (W) × 9 (D) cm (5.9 × 3.9 × 3.5 in) • Weight: approx. 65 g (2.3 oz) 【 Package 】 • Size: approx. 19.6 × 14.5 × 2.3 cm (7.7 × 5.7 × 0.9 in) • Weight: approx. 150 g (5.3 oz) 【 Materials 】 Genuine full-grain cowhide leather, waxed thread, metal components.
