Wholesale 2 fawn bookends in bronzed spelter on black marble bases, Art Deco

Two fawns in bronzed spelter, head thrown back toward the sky, legs stretched in a suspended leap. They face each other, arranged as mirror images, as if surprised at the same instant in the same pose. One imagines the clearing, the morning light, the broken silence. The forms are supple, the movement convincing, the dark brown patina with coppery highlights on the raised areas is characteristic of bronzed spelter from the 1930s. The black veined marble bases, with sober, geometric lines, anchor the whole with authority. This contrast between the warmth of the spelter and the cold mineral quality of the marble is a hallmark of Art Deco aesthetics, where noble materials respond to one another rather than oppose each other. Placed on a desk, a console, or flanking a row of old books, these bookends bring a discreet and refined sculptural presence. Height approximately 13 cm, base length approximately 12 cm.
