The portraits she paints are unique, which is not an understatement these days. She has a well-rounded global eye and discerning taste for interesting and intellectual subject matters, and a great eye for colours. Working like this means that any of her pieces will sit well in interesting spaces, and therefore any of her pieces would make a dull space cheery. Art takes patience; research, it requires flair and needs a real person behind it to make sure it speaks to its viewer. We hope you enjoy Kate’s humorous or eccentric animals. Kate gives animals human qualities and therefore, they can take the place of a human portrait if that’s your preference. The filmmaker Bruno Wolheim said that Kate’s animals come “from a fierce understanding of their innate spirit. The snake, the bison, or sand-bird are above all themselves, they express their own independence and individuality, with all the implicit comic tragedy...they are free”.
