WHOLESALE AGAR, EILEEN – THE FLAME

Format: Giclée Print; Limited Edition (1/950) on 310gsm thick, 100% cotton rag. Hand-numbered and hand-embossed. Size (cm): 35.5 x 44.0; Paper: 47 x 56 Acrylic on canvas, 1969. Has all the characteristic saturation of colour associated with Eileen Agar’s work. There’s delight in the making of shapes and visual metaphors here. She uses a dove central picture, the bringer of messages, the symbol of peace and of love. The dove flies over verdant fields and is surrounded by the deepest of green-blue skies. This is metaphorical, but also playfully attractive.
