Cleoniceras Ammonite Fossils • Country of Origin: Madagascar • Quantity: 1 single Ammonite Fossil in total. You will receive the exact fossil in the photo. Each has its own unique shape, size and crystal pockets with beautiful red, orange and purple iridescent colours which we have tried our best to capture. • Weight: 69 grams • Size: 6cm x 5cm x 1.7cm Care has been taken to ensure that weights and measurements are as accurate as possible, however please do note that these are only approximate so measuring precise dimensions can be difficult from irregular shaped items. The word ammonite is derived from Ammon, an Egyptian god who took the form of a ram. Ammonites are similar in appearance to a ram's horn. Ammonites are one of the most recognisable fossils around, this is due to their familiar spiral shape shell, reminiscent of what we know as a snail shell, though these creatures are not related to snails at all! They were marine animals, present between 240 - 65 million years ago, who had a coiled external shell similar to that of the modern nautilus.
