Atelier Ecluse is a space dedicated to the practice of contemporary book craft. Our studio combines the equipment and expertise necessary to the practice of printmaking, traditional bookbinding and hand papermaking. Founded in 2022 on the banks of the Lachine canal, Atelier Ecluse cohabits with the industrial heritage and manufacturing history that is so important to this neighborhood of Montreal. Our paper is made by hand from 100% cotton rags, providing strength and durability. It is ideal for writing and drawing with dry or wet medium. The production of our paper uses techniques dating back centuries, keeping this precious artisanal legacy alive. L’Atelier Ecluse est un espace consacré à la pratique contemporaine des métiers du livre. Notre studio combine les infrastructures et savoir-faire nécessaires à la pratique de l’impression d’art, de la reliure traditionnelle et du papier fait main. Fondé en 2022 sur les rives du canal Lachine, l’Atelier Écluse cohabite avec l’héritage industriel et l’histoire manufacturière marquant ce secteur de Montréal. Notre papier est fait à la main à partir de chiffons 100% coton, offrant force et durabilité. Il est idéal pour écrire et dessiner avec mediums secs ou humides.
