Couch grass (Agropyrum repens) is a common perennial species in the Poaceae family. Native to Asia, Europe, northwest Africa, and the Arctic biome, this warm-season grass grows widely in warmer months, often cultivated as turf grass. Its medicinal properties, especially diuretic virtues, have made couch grass a well-recognized medicinal herb known since the Roman Empire. This perennial can reach up to 1 meter in height and is commonly found, in abundance, in waste places, fields, and gardens, which it invades thanks to its long creeping rhizome.
