Originally from the Middle East, particularly Egypt or India, Fenugreek was used by the Egyptians to embalm the dead and treat burns, and later by the Romans who cultivated Fenugreek to feed their livestock and horses, hence its Latin name "foenum graecum" meaning "Greek hay." Both physically and mentally invigorating, Fenugreek is also used to aid digestion. Used as a spice, its strong flavor is highly appreciated in Indian cuisines.
