About Cometa Home
Cometa celebrates the beauty, tradition and craftsmanship of Mexican candle making- Each piece a vibrant reflection of Mexico's rich cultural heritage. Most commonly associated with Oaxaca, these intricate floral candles have been made throughout Mexico for hundreds of years. Cometa’s candles are made by a family that began crafting them in the mountain forest near Veracruz in the late 1800’s. The family later moved to the historic center of Mexico City where they continue their trade today. Steeped in centuries-old history, our candles are carefully handmade using the same tools and techniques that have been passed down for generations. As a result, there are slight imperfections and variations in size and color, truly making each piece one of a kind. All color combinations are made to order exclusively for Cometa.
