About Grand Canyon Piñon Salve

Grand Canyon Piñon Salve grew out of more than a decade spent hiking, guiding, and working on public lands throughout the Southwest. After years of being surrounded by piñon and juniper, I was drawn to the incredible aroma of piñon resin and began making a simple salve for myself, friends, and family. People kept asking for more, and in 2023 I began selling the salve at the Flagstaff Community Market. Since then, it has found its way into local shops, outdoor stores, and the packs of hikers and guides exploring the Grand Canyon and beyond. Every batch is still made by hand in Northern Arizona using piñon resin gathered from the surrounding forests, hand-picked juniper berries, olive oil, and beeswax from local Arizona hives. The piñon resin is naturally harvested without cutting or damaging the trees, while the juniper berries are gathered seasonally, dried, crushed, and infused into olive oil. What started as something I made for myself has grown into a distinctly Southwestern product rooted in the landscape where I live and work.
