Retailers are required to accept all confirmed orders placed on Faire. Once an order is placed, it’s your responsibility to receive the delivery.
We understand there may be situations—like unexpected duties fees—where refusing a package might seem like the best option. However, unless you are not the listed recipient, we ask that you accept the package and reach out to us if you have any concerns. We're here to help and can often work with you to resolve duty-related issues.
What happens if I refuse a package?
Refusing a package doesn’t cancel your order, and you won't be refunded. You’ll still be responsible for the full cost of the order.
We also keep an eye out for repeated refusals, as they can impact our ability to support your account. In some cases, repeated refusals may result in limits on future ordering—especially for international shipments.
What happens when a package is refused?
When a shipment is refused, it still incurs shipping and handling costs, and for international orders, additional customs duties and import fees may also still apply. Often, these costs fall to the brand, which can strain relationships and make it harder for brands to offer great service to all retailers. Over time, this can impact your standing with brands and your ability to place future orders.
What if the duties were higher than expected?
We provide an estimated duties and taxes amount during checkout for international orders. However, actual charges may change and are not final until your package has gone through customs.
If your duties seem higher than expected, please accept the delivery and send us the itemized carrier invoice—we’re happy to take a closer look and can help investigate any discrepancies.
If your order hasn’t shipped yet and the duties or fees seem high, you can message the brand to request a cancellation. You can do this from the Orders & Reviews page by selecting Contact brand next to your order. Just keep in mind that cancellations are at the brand’s discretion and may not always be possible if the brand has already begun processing the order.
