How This Handmade Gemstone Ring Is Made Each raw sapphire ring is made to order in my small Santa Fe studio. I hand-select every stone for its color depth and natural crystal form, then encase it in copper using traditional electroforming techniques. Copper grows directly around the stone through an electrical process, forming the band organically. No mass production, no shortcuts. Every handmade gemstone ring from this studio is one of a kind.
