An english roll arm sofa features cylindrical arms that curve outward and down from the seat deck, creating a graceful scrolled profile. The Mallard uses high vertical arms instead of the classic roll, offering full shoulder-height enclosure for a more intimate seating profile than traditional roll-arm designs. What You Get With the Uptown Sebastian Mallard Leather Sofa • American Benchmade Frame -- Built in the USA using kiln-dried solid hardwood that won't warp or develop the joint failures common in imported furniture. • Full-Height 39-Inch Arms -- Arms match the back height exactly, creating an enclosed seating profile with side support for reading, napping, or conversations. • Coil-on-Coil Comfort System -- Individual pocketed coil springs beneath 8-way hand-tied spring construction provide dual-layer support that maintains shape over decades. • 21-Inch Seat Height and Depth -- Accessible height works for users from 5'2" to 6'4" while the 21-inch depth provides full thigh support without pressure behind knees. • Top-Grain Leather Upholstery -- Full-grain leather develops rich patina over years, breathing better than corrected-grain alternatives without the stickiness of bonded leather. • 12-Inch Wide Arms -- Wide enough to rest a book, tablet, or coffee cup while providing substantial elbow support during extended lounging. How Does a High-Back Leather Sofa Work in an Open Floor Plan? The Mallard's 39-inch back and matching arm height create a three-sided enclosure that contains sound and defines spatial boundaries without walls. Position it to anchor a living room furniture arrangement facing a fireplace or media console, or place it perpendicular to other sofas and loveseats to create distinct zones within a great room.
