Our hand-blended substrate includes 14 all-natural ingredients- multiple types of moss, hardwoods, leaves, organic material, minerals, and charcoal. Our recipe was developed to stay spongy and aerated, while keeping humidity high. Natural organic materials provide nutrients to support plant growth and a clean-up crew. A substrate barrier and drainage layer is strongly recommended when making a bioactive rainforest enclosure to keep excessive water from sitting in the substrate.
