The cherry dipped ice cream cone is such an iconic and nostalgic treat, but the truth is that in real life at the ice cream shop, they are usually a bit wonky-looking! So at times, I have to use some imagination to get my reference photos to work. In this case, I used the original reference photo, taken by my sister on an outing with her kids (as a favor to me!), and spiced it up a bit in my Photoshop program, so that it took on some of the more graceful, soft curves we usually think of. Who knows, maybe someday I'll paint the straight up wonky dipped cone, but for now, I think this one turned out pretty colorful and happy-looking!
