Our beautiful lanterns are crafted from Lokta Paper, a traditional handmade paper originating from Nepal. This remarkable paper is created from the bark of the Daphne plant, prized for its durability, strength, and distinctive natural texture. The process is entirely handcrafted and labor-intensive. The bark is carefully harvested, stripped, boiled, and pounded into a pulp. This pulp is then skillfully spread onto screens to form sheets and left to dry naturally in the sun. The result is a strong yet beautifully organic paper that gives each lantern its unique character. By choosing these lanterns, you are helping support the livelihoods of local artisans in Nepal, particularly in remote communities where this traditional craft has been preserved for generations.
