A hand block-printed coat from our be-the-change collection, in a mixed boho rose flower design. Made from sourced, unique vintage Kantha textiles — fabrics originally stitched as bridal gifts by families in East Bengal, India, and used as blankets. Kantha, meaning "patched cloth," refers both to the quilted blankets themselves and to the small, straight running stitch used to make them. For generations, Bengali women took discarded cloth scraps and stitched them together by hand, turning the old into something useful, warm and beautiful. Elaborate kantha pieces were often made as wedding gifts, carrying stories and well-wishes for loved ones. These textiles are now increasingly rare to find. Warm and light, in a loose kimono-style silhouette that fits all sizes and body shapes, with a belt to tie at the waist and big pockets. The inside and outside carry different prints, and each coat is one of a kind.
