About Kavita

At seven, I realized that drawing on fabric was my passion. While most girls in India pursued degrees in English Literature, I aimed for art school. My first six months at New Delhi Poly-technique for Women were intense, focusing on color mastery and pattern creation. I graduated with distinction in textile design in 1975 and a certificate in French, determined to move to Paris. With savings from design projects, I found work with Madame Calisti’s design house, creating prints for renowned designers. My career has taken me from Malaysia to California, where I've crafted gowns for the Queen of Malaysia and designed a Christmas ornament for the White House. My husband and I have been a fixture of California art & wine festivals for nearly three decades. Read their story
