Wholesale African horned mask in carved wood – stylized face – black patina

Some objects need no explanation. This one asserts itself. Carved from a dense wood with a deep black patina, this African mask with bifid horns exudes an immediate presence. The face is human but stylized: finely carved closed eyelids, straight nose, slightly open mouth in a carved slit, cheeks framed by rectangular ear guards with regular grooves. The rounded chin, decorated with chisel grooves, extends the composition with balance. The two slender horns rise in perfect symmetry above the skull. This motif is characteristic of the masked traditions of the Baoulé or Guro of Côte d'Ivoire, where the mask embodies a spiritual presence during ceremonies. Second half of the 20th century, carefully crafted. Height: 40 cm. Raw back, front with a homogeneous black patina. Good overall condition, natural wear marks on the horns. Hung alone on a white or dark wall, it organizes the space with authority. In composition with other ethnic pieces, it anchors an interior that confidently makes its choices.
