Handmade linocut print on Vélin paper. The mandragora’s humanoid root has been revered as sacred medicine and feared as forbidden magic for millennia. This artwork reclaims the plant’s feminine power, sensual and mysterious, from centuries of demonization by patriarchal forces who sought to suppress women’s ancient herbal wisdom. This print was created using the ‘reduction method,’ this technique involves carving a single lino block in stages to build up layers of color. Here 4 layers have been created. With this technique, a little more is carved away from the printing block after each layer of colour, so that only one edition can be printed. Once the print is sold out, it will never be available again. Each print is designed, carved, and hand-printed by me in my small workshop in the Laurentians. Because of this handmade process, slight variations in color and print may occur. This makes every piece truly one of a kind. Frame and accessories are not included.
