A wetland receives the water that flows into it and slows it down, allowing sediments to drop to the bottom. It absorbs the excess nutrients, while plant roots and microbes break down harmful chemicals. Then it passes the water on, cleaner and safer, to those downstream. Be a wetland! This notecard depicts a marsh wetland filled with reeds and lilypads, merging into trees into the background against a blue but turbulent sky. Shades of dark green and black are reflected in the water. The text shown and a big floating lilypad are printed on the back. Also available as a poster.
