Wholesale Medusa and Rangda Print

11"x17" print: Museum Quality Digital Print on 100lb French Paper Rangda is a character from a Balinese version of Hinduism and is sometimes thought to be a version of Kali. Her story is soaked in resentment as is the story of Medusa which comes from a very different region, obviously. The words on this piece come from the Kalevala which is the Finnish epic poem which describes the beginning of the world. In this portion of the story, an old woman is talking to a younger woman who will soon be married to a new, cruel family, and she’s being warned about what she might expect. The original words are in Finnish and there are many translations that differ a great deal. I’ve sculpted the words just so, to fit my purposes.
