The raw wood takes stain, paint, clear coats, marker and colored pencil well. It's a great project for kids to get their creativity flowing and wind up with a rewarding usable toy that will last. Pictured above as left plain, using a gel stain, a regular stain, and everyday children's pentel washable non-toxic markers. The full length wooden scabbard really sets this toy sword apart from the others. There's just something satisfying about pulling the sword out!
