Description
Darjeeling's second flush is what built the region's reputation. It arrives in early summer, when longer days and warm afternoon sun push the leaves into a deeper, more complex expression — the famous muscatel character that no other tea region in the world has been able to replicate. This Orange Pekoe comes from Okayti Tea Estate, one of Darjeeling's oldest gardens, established in 1888 at elevations where morning fog and sharp nighttime drops slow the leaf's growth just enough to concentrate flavor. The leaves are hand-plucked selectively — only the bud and two youngest leaves — then processed using traditional methods that let the terroir speak for itself. What you get in the cup is layered: muscatel grape up front, a honeyed sweetness through the middle, and a clean aromatic finish that lingers. There's a brightness here that separates it from heavier black teas, a quality Darjeeling drinkers recognize instantly and newcomers never forget. This isn't a blend labeled "Darjeeling" — it's a single-estate, single-flush tea with a specific origin you can trace back to the hillside it grew on.
