The Red English Ladybug rests at center like a small, living jewel—its lacquered wings dotted in inky black, its shape perfectly symmetrical, as if drawn by nature with a steady, confident hand. In gardens across the English countryside, it has long been considered a sign of luck. Here, it becomes something you can keep. Lifted from a vintage naturalist study and preserved beneath glass, this little creature feels both scientific and sentimental—Latin name and all. Coccinella septempunctata. A whisper of old field journals and pressed specimens, of afternoons spent wandering hedgerows. Minimal, graphic, quietly charming—it is a study in restraint and delight. Handcrafted in our New York City studio using the traditional French art of decoupage, each bent-glass tray is made one at a time. The artwork is layered beneath glass and fired into permanence, creating a luminous, tactile surface with subtle variations that make every piece feel personal. Each tray is individually signed by Ben, a mark of its place in his world of thoughtful, unusual objects. Food safe and wipe clean, with a felted back, it’s equally at home holding rings on a bedside table, a slice of lemon at cocktail hour, or displayed upright on a gallery easel as a small work of art.
