What is Burdock Root? This immune-boosting, detoxifying power herb is classified as a biennial and is scientifically known as Arctium. Flowering from July through October, during August the rosettes of burdock play an essential role for bees, providing nectar and pollen while the bees wait for goldenrod to bloom. Native to Asia and Northern Europe, Burdock Root has also been growing in the United States for about half a century. It was traditionally used in holistic medicine for a plethora of issues affecting the body. The most common way form in which it was administered was to cook it without peeling since the veggie has so many nutrients in its skin.
