Description

Kogane no obi. The golden sash. A contemporary composition of metallic gold and pastel light, carried over the shoulder. The silk is a lustrous champagne gold ground worked with horizontal bundles of raised metallic thread — sculptural ridges that catch the light like brushstrokes laid in sequence. Beneath the gold, the weave shifts through soft coral, dusty sky blue, lavender-mauve, and pale silver, the palette of a rainbow held in low tones. The composition is bold, banded, contemporary; it carries the weight of the obi as architecture rather than ornament. A bag for slow afternoons and unhurried entrances — a pale linen dress, a wool overcoat, a midweek lunch worth dressing for. The silk is the original obi face, designed and finished into a knot bag at the Renaras atelier. Knotted self-closure, silk lining. No metal touches the silk. No clasp, no hardware, no zip. Renaras: Japanese ceremonial silk, reimagined for daily life. Each piece arrives with its own passport from the atelier — a small handmade record of the silk's first life and its transformation, signed and dated in Amsterdam. Material: Japanese ceremonial silk, fukuro obi Construction: Knotted self-closure, silk lining, no metal contact Care: Dry clean or spot clean. Origin: Japanese ceremonial silk, designed and finished at the Renaras atelier, Netherlands. One silk. One story. One piece. Never repeated. For the boutique — The knot bag sells as wearable provenance: carried to dinners and galleries, opened as a conversation. Display at the counter or among accessories; no design repeats. A natural fit for boutiques curating Japanese craft, slow fashion and wearable art. Renaras is an Amsterdam atelier that designs and reimagines existing Japanese ceremonial silk into contemporary pieces for daily life.
