Trim the wooden wick before each lighting with a wick trimmer or your fingers to an optimal length of approx. 3–5 mm, so that the burnt, blackened wood is largely removed and the new flame can burn well again. Tips: Wick too short: You can tell because the flame does not properly develop but only glows slightly. The wick floats in the wax. What you can do: Extinguish the candle, use some kitchen paper/tissue, and absorb excess wax from the container. Wick too long: You can tell because your candle quickly goes out again or does not stay lit. What you can do: Shorten the wooden wick with your finger by gently breaking it so that the wick is about 3–5 mm long. The flame should not burn too small or too high. A place with little draught is best for your candle. The candle should not burn for more than 5 hours at a time. After a 2-hour rest period it can be lit again.
